Technical Writing?

In my opinion, technical writing encompasses many aspects of our daily life and we may or may not be aware of its affects.  Technical writing is illustrated when you put together your child's crib, or operating a coffee pot. These construction or operating instructions help us follow a set of steps to accomplish a task we may or may not be familiar with.  Some instructions can be intended for a general audience such as parents, consumers.  Other forms of technical writing can be generated for a more analytical or technical audience such as airplane manuals that help inform a pilot who is knowledgeable in aviation but help signal out mechanical operations of certain aircraft. This form of writing in my opinion helps to make the world go around.  If this style of writing was not around to inform people of instructions or procedures there would be a significant amount of mishaps or quite simply tasks may not get completed for the lack of knowing how, when, or where you need to start.  I think as technology grows our need for technical writing will increase and the understanding of operations will be even more dependent on this form of writing in the future.
